With many Americans steadfast in their refusal to accept the risks of the experimental COVID-19 vaccine, the country’s leading infectious disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci, is now saying that he wants to see more COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
In an interview on CNN’s State of the Union, host Jake Tapper asked Fauci if he believes businesses and schools should require the jab.
Fauci responded: “I have been of this opinion, and I remain of that opinion that I do believe at the local level, Jake, there should be more mandates, there really should be. We’re talking about life-and-death situation.”
He also called the virus “serious business” and said that 600,000 Americans have already died from the virus. He did not, however, mention the number of people who have died or experienced serious side effects from the vaccines.
Fauci also said that he believed there would be a lot more mandates if the FDA were to grant COVID-19 vaccines full approval; they’re currently being administered under an emergency use authorization that limits how far certain entities can go in requiring them.
He said: “I think the hesitancy at the local level of doing mandates is because the vaccines have not been officially, fully approved, but people need to understand that the amount of data right now that shows a high degree of effectiveness and a high degree of safety is more than we’ve ever seen with emergency use authorization.”
Fauci has also come under fire recently after thousands of emails written by him were published as part of a Freedom of Information (FOIA) Act request. Some of them made it appear that he knew about the theory that COVID-19 came from the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China, prompting calls by Republican lawmakers for him to be ousted on the grounds that he misled the public.
The emails also exposed his involvement with illegal gain of function research being carried out on bat coronaviruses in China.
In a recent interview, Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky talked about how so-called experts are not following science in their mad push to get everyone vaccinated.
Speaking about the government’s misguided medical advice, he said: “They shouldn’t just tell us, ‘don’t think about it, just get vaccinated.”
“That’s what they’re doing. So, they’re not wanting to think about natural immunity. They don’t even read any of the articles. They don’t even collect the statistics.”
Another issue that vaccine mandates overlook is the fact that those who have already had the virus and recovered may not need the jab at all. There are very few studies into this, but it stands to reason that having the disease would have given many people enough immunity that the vaccine would be unnecessary – and potentially even riskier than it is to the general population.
According to Paul, Fauci has no idea how many people who were vaccinated already had the disease first, which is something that he feels is worth studying. Many independent scientists have already gone on the record as saying that those who have already had COVID-19 likely do not need a shot.
Yet Fauci and many others are continuing with their insistence that the entire population needs to get these shots right away and not worry about the potential side effects.
He’s been talking about mandates for quite some time. In April, he told the POLITICO Dispatch podcast that while the federal government would not mandate the vaccine, he expected that some business and schools might do so.
“I’m not saying that they should or that they would, but I’m saying you could foresee how an independent entity might say, ‘Well, we can’t be dealing with you unless we know you’re vaccinated,’ but it’s not going to be mandated from the federal government,” he said.
